MONTPELIER, VT. >> Commercial vehicle inspectors with the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles will be participating in a three-day "International Roadcheck" to perform safety inspections on large trucks and buses.

In the 72-hour period beginning Tuesday, Vermont inspectors will be checking both the drivers and their vehicles in a 37-step procedure to ensure the drivers are properly licensed and rested and that their rigs are roadworthy.

During International Roadcheck approximately 10,000 certified local, state, provincial, territorial and federal inspectors in jurisdictions across North America will perform similar inspections.

In Vermont the inspectors will be checking vehicles and their drivers at inspection sites along Interstates 89 and 91 in Windsor and Orange Counties. In addition, roving patrols will inspect vehicles and drivers traveling other highways in Vermont.
