MIDDLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -- Middleborough police say a man who stabbed two people at a Christmas party is now in jail after being arrested in Quincy.

Fifty-two-year-old John Barsell of Middleborough is charged with two counts of attempted murder and three counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He's being held on $50,000 bail at the Plymouth County jail after being arrested Saturday night.

Police say Barsell stabbed two other Middleborough men early Christmas morning during an argument about beer at a party off North Main Street.

Officials say the two victims have been released from a hospital, and a woman who also was hurt didn't need to go to the hospital.

Barsell is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Wareham District Court. It's not clear if he has a lawyer.
