I am a regular reader of the Banner. I think it is a great small town paper. I have noticed the many improvements recently but think it is tacky to put the obituaries in the Arts and Entertainment section. Death is neither Art nor Entertainment.
Dr. Martin Luther King
Last week I was standing in the new memorial to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in Washington, D.C. His words were inscribed on the inside walls. If there was anyone who could inspire with his words, it was Dr. King.
It was, however, ironic, to see across the water, the dome of the U.S. Capitol where there are U.S. Representatives who hold the nation hostage to their small-minded vision of our nation.
Dr. King’s own words:
"I have the audacity to believe that peoples everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds, and dignity, quality and freedom for their spirit. I believe that what self-centered men have torn down, other-centered men can build up."
