The story by Keith Whitcomb Jr. about the 51-year-old guy in Pownal busted for growing pot is interesting and very different from the run of the mill marijuana stories. This guy allegedly confessed, told the police that he was not "ashamed" of growing the pot and then went to court to plead not guilty on felony charges related to the marijuana.
Someone tipped off police about the pot operation, but this guy, Phillip Hollendonner, didn’t seem to let that bother him either. He had 13 ounces of pot and 14 plants, police said. At that rate of growth he could probably stay stoned for about 10 years or so. He may have been selling some too.
I have a suggestion for this dude. Apply for one of the legal pot outlets or whatever they’re called and grow it and sell it legally. Just like Elliot Ness and the Feds busted bathtub gin speakeasies back in the bootleg days when booze was illegal, pot is still illegal too, dude.
You may as well join the rest of us and do things legally!
Thank you to TJ Carmody
I would like to take a minute to thank TJ Carmody and his family for their years of dedication to the Bennington community. I am young enough to have celebrated my 21st birthday, along with many of my friends, with TJ. His spirit and honesty were a real asset to Bennington as a whole. I’m not sure if there was an organization that he did not help out.
It was a huge loss when Carmody’s closed, now with the sale of Ploughman’s Pub it is a true shame that others won’t be able to enjoy the memories that TJ creates. My two young sons look forward to St. Patrick’s Day to see TJ the Leprechaun. Once again, thank you TJ for all you have done. Best of luck to you, Sue, RT, Lindsay and Patrick. Hope to see you guys around.
