I’m writing with a few observations on Mr. Weiland Ross’s column of May 30, The Obamite Race Card, Part I. It turns out that Mr. Ross is not the only white person who dislikes Obama. In the election just past, 59 percent of white people voted for Romney. But it also turns out that just appealing to grumpy old white men like Mr. Ross is not enough to win elections. This is not your grandfather’s America. Obama’s coalition of African-Americans, Latinos, Asians, women and younger voters represents the new demographic of this country.
Mr. Ross: Because I consider the endless argument between conservatives and progressives to be completely unproductive and a total waste of time, I will not attempt to rebut the points you raise. I would just say that we have agreed upon mechanisms to settle our political differences in this country. They are called elections. You might recall that we just had one. Your boy didn’t win.
