MONTPELIER (AP) - Vermonters can visit the state's parks and historic sites at no cost this weekend.

All state park day areas, state-owned historic site and the Vermont History Museum in Montpelier will be free on Saturday and Sunday during Vermont Days.

Flag Day celebrations will also take place at Hubbardton Battlefield and the Bennington Battle Monument. The Justin Morrill Historic Site in Strafford will hold an open house.

Gov. Peter Shumlin says it's a great opportunity to explore the state's outstanding variety of recreation, culture and history. He says the state has more than 50 state parks and nine historic sites - each offering a unique Vermont experience.

Saturday is also free fishing day, when people can fish without a license.
