MANCHESTER -- Southern Vermont Arts Center proudly announces Art From the Schools, the largest exhibition of student artwork in the area, on display March 27 through April 10. Hundreds of works from 19 area schools - paintings, drawings, sculpture, photography, furniture and more - will once again fill the galleries and hallways of Yester House.
Come and celebrate with the students and their families on Wednesday, April 2, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the annual Young Picasso Pizza Party in Yester House. Music by the Long Trail Band will be featured along with art activities, refreshments and, of course, pizza. The reception is free and open to the public.
All of the artwork in the show is produced by students from pre-kindergarten through high school and arranged by their art teachers. The creativity and talent displayed in the exhibition is a wonderful testament to the outstanding instruction and guidance local students receive from their teachers.
Participating schools include Arlington Memorial High School, Burr and Burton Academy, Currier Memorial School, The Dorset School, Flood Brook Union School, Fisher Elementary School, Grace Christian School, Happy Days Childcare, Homeschoolers of Southern Vermont, The Long Trail School, Manchester Elementary Middle School, Maple Street School, Mettawee Community School, The Mountain School, Sunderland Elementary School, Vermont Academy, Village School of North Bennington, and Bennington Early Childhood Program, The North Group.
Art From the Schools runs through April 10 and is free of charge. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, noon to 5 p.m. The Arts Center is located off West Road in Manchester. For more information call 802-362-1405 or visit www.svac.org.
