STAMFORD (AP) - Vermont police say a driver who lost control of her car in slushy conditions, crashed into a telephone pole, knocking out power for more than 500 customers.

Police say 20-year-old Maria Theresa Denault was driving 45 miles per hour northbound on Route 100 in Stamford when her wheels lost traction causing her to slide off the road and hit the pole Thursday morning. Denault suffered minor injuries and was transported to the North Adams Hospital in Massachusetts.

Police say the impact cracked the pole at the base causing a power outage that lasted almost six hours.

Green Mountain Power says power was restored to more than 300 customers about an hour and a half after the crash. The remaining outages were repaired in the afternoon.
