BENNINGTON -- The SVMC Corridor Art Gallery is currently displaying a small sample of the Art and Archive collection of Southwestern Vermont Health Care. This art collection, some 1400 pieces of paintings, photographs and sculptures, has been given over the health systems ninety-six years of existence by grateful patient families and friends of SVHC.

Local and regional artists have generously donated their work since Putnam Memorial Hospital opened its doors in 1918. Many have given in gratitude for care received, others in memory of friends and loved ones, and still others, with the simple desire to enhance the healthcare environment for all patients who use the SVHC facilities.

The Art and Archive Committee is the keeper of all historical records and artistic donations for SVHC. Their collection of artwork, historical documents, and memorabilia is comprehensive. The SVHC History Wall along the second floor connecting corridor is a small example of the work of this committee. The artwork will be on display until April 9th in the gallery in the first floor connector corridor. The work chosen for this show is that of all local artists.

The Art and Archive Committee is pleased to present this exhibition in honor and gratitude to the talented and caring artists of our community.
