Story Time at Cheney Library
HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - Cheney Library will hold a story time for preschoolers and their caregivers on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. Several of the classic tales and songs will be featured. There will be crafts and snacks. Plan to come with your preschool child.
Meditation for everyone
BENNINGTON - Meditation is held Tuesday evenings from 7 to 8 p.m. at The Bennington Free Library. There is a $1 requested contribution, if possible. Beginning and experienced meditators are welcome. Chairs are available. If you wish to sit on a cushion, bring one. Sessions facilitated by: Randy Anselmo, Maggie Bernstein, John Hearst, Natasha Judson, Eve Pearce and Jane Schaeffer.
BENNINGTON - Daughters of the American Revolution, The Bennington Chapter, will meet at St. Peter's Church at 1:30 p.m. The program "Indian Powwow Singing and Dancing" will be presented by Mary Gerisch, followed by the business portion of the meeting. 'Get Animated' at library
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - On February 18, 19, and 20, (Tuesday through Thursday) the library is sponsoring "Get Animated! Stop-Motion Magic!" from 9 a.m. to noon. This is a video production workshop for third to sixth graders, with a limit of 8 participants. Stop-motion is the process of making inanimate objects come to life through capturing one frame of video at a time.
This workshop will take place at the WilliNet Studio, 34 Spring St., on the second floor. Sign up in the children's room at the library.
Winter break activities planned for students
BENNINGTON - Bennington Museum will offer winter vacation workshops on Feb. 18, 20 and 21. Offering fun and educational activities, each program will runs from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday's program was created for children in Kindergarten through Grade 2, while Thursday's activities are geared toward children in grades 3 through 5. The week wraps-up on Friday, Feb. 21, with a program to intrigue students in grades 6 through 8. The price per workshop is $8 per child per workshop for members and $10 per child per workshop for non-members and includes a snack and all materials.
All three sessions focus on Bennington Modernism and the works found in that gallery. Participants will spend time in the gallery, looking at and talking about art, using art to create poems and other written works, as well as time creating art of their own.
Pre-registration is required. Classes are subject to minimum and maximum class sizes. To register call 802-447-1571.
Making of the 'Wizard of Oz' documentary
MANCHESTER - "The Wizard of Oz" was a crowning achievement of 1930s film-making. Largely considered the most viewed film of all time, its groundbreaking special effects, lavish sets and costume design, and glowing Technicolor make it a timeless classic.
How did this film get made? Find out on at 7 p.m. when Mark Skinner Library presents the feature- length documentary about the making of the "Wizard of Oz." Lifeguard training course
BENNINGTON - The Bennington Recreation Center will hold a lifeguard training course Feb. 18 to 21. The hours are 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and the cost of the course is $200. Re-certification cost is $100. Must be at least 15 years of age. Call the Recreation Center at 802-442-1053 to register and information about course prerequisites. Payment is due by Feb. 14.
