NORTH BENNINGTON -- It’s time to make vacation plans! February school vacation week is right around the corner, and you can still make sure your child has a fun, inspiring week immersed in the arts. The Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE), located at the Sage Street Mill, is opening up its studios to children for an entire week of art fun in a special Vacation Art Camp, Monday through Friday, Feb. 17 to 21.
A long-time favorite, Open Studio Art Camp returns with art adventures for children ages 6 to 11. Bennington artist and long-time VAE instructor Ann Webster-Lang leads students in discovering the wide variety of materials, tools and supplies available in VAE’s studios -- and not often found in their other art programs. Children work individually as well as in groups to try new things at their own pace. Allyson Hoffman will also offer a Hip-Hop dance camp for ages 5-8, where students will learn new dance moves and practice choreography techniques, culminating a final performance Friday afternoon. These week-long camps are $185 per child, including all materials. Campers should bring a bag lunch and snack (if needed), and warm outdoor clothing.
For Preschoolers aged 3-5, Kristen Blaker, M.Ed. will be offering a themed week, taking campers on an adventure "Down the Rabbit Hole." Bring your little one to explore the world of Alice and Wonderland in this PRESCHOOL art camp! Campers will spend their days in the Little Studio tapping into the realm of the imagination, using this time-honored children’s classic as a guide for arts-based activities throughout the week.
