SUNDERLAND - An Amber Alert issued Monday for a 12-year-old Sunderland boy has been canceled. The boy was found safe in Lyme, N.H. About three hours after the alert went out.

According to Vermont State Police, Zachary Lee was found in a hotel with his biological mother, Patricia Kane, 49, who was taken into custody without incident. The Amber Alert was issued at 8:35 p.m. Lee was reported missing Monday afternoon when he did not arrive at his foster home in Sunderland after being dropped off by a school bus. The alert said he was believed to be with Kane who has a history of "instability."

At around 10:30 p.m., police received word that Lee was seen with Kane and his 17-year-old sister at a restaurant in Hanover, N.H. The three were then located in Lyme about an hour later.

Kane is being held for question and charges may be forthcoming, said police, who are working with the Bennington County State's Attorney's Office. State Police said they would release more information as it becomes available.

Police feared they boy might be taken out of the country, as he was recently repatriated from France. Kane allegedly has a history of attempting to abduct the boy while he was living in France.
