BENNINGTON -- Those interested in an adult acting class, whether young or old, experienced or newly interested, can join Oldcastle Theatre Company’s new Acting 101 taught by veteran actress, improvisational artist, director and teacher, Christine Decker.

Classes will meet at Oldcastle Theatre, 331 Main St. on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 from Jan. 7 through Feb. 11. Tuition for Acting 101 is $100 for the full six weeks.

Decker has more than 35 years of experience as a professional actress and teacher. She most recently appeared in the title role of Stephen Pouliot’s "Grandma Moses: An American Primitive" for Oldcastle. Earlier in the season she directed the farce "The Fox on the Fairway." Decker spent 19 years with Disney World’s Comedy Warehouse as a member of their famed improv group. She has acted with American Stage in St. Petersburg in such roles as Martha in "Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" and Sister Aloysius in "Doubt."

She has acted with the Theatre Company of Hubbard Hall in her native Cambridge, N.Y. in the one-woman play "Shirley Valentine" and as The Madwoman of Chaillot. She received training in improvisation and sketch comedy writing at Dudley Riggs’ Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis after majoring in theatre at Bard College.

"These classes will show how to create characters, tricks in memorization and use of improvisation to expand the imagination in a safe and fun environment." Decker said. "I’m eager to work with people of all levels of theatre experience as we can all learn and teach through our own life experience. Come and play, we’ll have a great time."
