NORTH BENNINGTON -- After a highly successful summer with over 20 camps ranging from fort making, animation, fashion and preschool, the Vermont Arts Exchange (VAE) is continuing its great arts education by launching its new afterschool arts program "Get smART at VAE."
Beginning October 7th, classes will be offered in visual art for kindergarten through sixth grade, hip-hop dance for grades 4-6, and yoga for teens, at the historic Sage Street Mill.
The fall lineup for visual arts (for grades K-6) includes Clay Play, Paper Arts, Mask Making, Fairy Houses and Creature Creation with art educators Lindsey Anderson and Kristen Blaker M.Ed. Each class meets one day per week for a six-week session allowing students to delve deeper into areas of personal interest and develop their artistic skills. Hip Hop Dance is offered for both girls and boys in separate classes taught by Allyson Hoffman (for grades 4-6). VAE will also offer "Yoga for Teens" (ages 13-18), to be taught by Tracey Forest.
Afterschool visual arts classes are from 3-5:30pm, and are $80 for the session; dance and yoga classes are from 3:30-4:30pm, and are $60 for the session.
Art is not just for kids! Adult classes are also being offered this fall! Wheel Throwing with Arline Mayer will be on Wednesdays and Altered Books with Kristen Blaker M.Ed. will be on Thursdays. Classes run from 6:30-8:30pm, and are $150 for this six-week session.
The ART BUS comes to the Farmer’s Market! Come visit us at the Walloomsac Farmers Market on Saturdays, where the art bus becomes a mobile art studio offering paint your own pottery, portraiture, and other fun art activities.
