HOOSICK -- Since December 2012, the Town of Hoosick has been renting office space from HAYC3 in the newly renovated Hoosick Falls Armory at a rate of $1,500 a month.

As of this month, HAYC3 Executive Director Aelish Nealon has confirmed that the town has failed to pay its June rent, which was due by June 1, 2013, as well as the security deposit of $1,500.

Nealon also noted that the town has yet to sign the lease agreement, which runs through October of this year.

"We have no idea why we haven't received it," said Nealon, "or why they haven't signed the lease yet."

Nealon reached out to Town Supervisor Keith Cipperly in regards to this issue to no avail.

"I sent him a bill and e-mailed him mid-June and he never responded," said Nealon. "Since they paid May's rent well before it was due, we were surprised when this happened."

At present, Nealon and the other board members of HAYC3 have no plans to evict the town from the Armory, but are definitely frustrated with the situation.

In a written statement sent to the Banner, Nealon said:

"HAYC3 remains committed to creating positive programs, opportunities and experiences in our community. Having positive partnerships with the various organizations and individuals who reside in the Armory is clearly vital to our success.

"Unfortunately, the sporadic nature of both the lease negotiations and the town's lack of payment towards the monthly rental obligations have resulted in a less than beneficial relationship to date. We remain hopeful that this can be rectified to the benefit of the entire community and that we can continue foster strong relationships throughout the community."
