BENNINGTON -- Bennington Rural Fire Department responded to a fire on Silk Road just south of the Rt. 279 overpass in Bennington, which began at a few minutes before 4 p.m. on Saturday.

According to Bennington Rural Fire Department assistant chief John Scutt the fire was contained within the hour, and teams were on-site for a total of four hours including mop-up.

No one was injured in the blaze, which began at the back of the house, but the building was a total loss, Scutt said.

Scutt reported the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
