Snowmobile crash injures operator

WOODFORD -- State police reported a snowmobile accident last week that sent the operator to the hospital.

The incident occurred last Thursday, Jan. 3, when police responded at about 7:06 p.m. to a report of a snowmobile crash on VAST trails in Woodford. Police said the operator, Chelsea Hawksley, 27, of Pittsfield, Mass., had been traveling west when she lost control of her 2012 Ski-doo 600. Police said the snowmobile left the trail and struck a tree, totaling the snowmobile and injuring Hawksley, who was transported by Bennington Rescue to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Police said Hawksley was wearing a helmet but an update on her condition was not available Sunday evening.
