JACKSON, N.Y. -- Washington County sheriffs reported a Cambridge man was arrested for burglary over the weekend after he was allegedly caught in the act.
Joseph M. Brandmeyer, 32, was charged with third-degree burglary, a felony, and attempted petit larceny and possession of burglar's tools, both misdemeanors. In a written release Sunday, Dec. 30, police said Brandmeyer was caught by the property owner as he attempted to burglarize a vacant home in Jackson on Shunpike Road. Police said the homeowner stopped to check the residence and discovered Brandmeyer in the basement, and subsequently called police. Brandmeyer was arraigned in Jackson Town Court and released on his own recognizance with a later court date.
