Bennington Lions Board meeting
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Lions Club will hold its October Board of Directors meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. in the TD Bank Conference Room. The plans for the club's upcoming Harvest
Dinner on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the First Baptist Church in Bennington will be finalized and all members are welcome at this meeting. Senior Center activities
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Senior Center activities will include bone builders from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The Help Weight Group weigh-in will be held at 4:30 p.m.; meeting starts at 5 p.m. sharp. A trip to Saratoga Apple and Golden Corral from run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Story hours at library
BENNINGTON -- Bennington Free Library holds story hours geared towards the younger crowd on Tuesdays.
"Baby Rhyme Tyme" for infants 4 months to 18 months will be held upstairs in the Rotary meeting room from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Use the night entrance next to the book drop.
"Story Rhythms," an active story hour for children 18 months to 36 months, will also be held from 10:30 to 11 a.m. upstairs in the Rotary meeting room. For more information, call Linda or Chris at 802-442-9051.

Benefit for Lorette family
BENNINGTON -- A benefit dinner for the Lorette family will be held at American Legion Post 13, 225 Northside Drive, Friday, on Friday, Oct. 5, beginning at 4:30 p.m. The menu will be spaghetti and meatballs and tossed salad. There will be a live band and raffles. The price is $10 per person, children 5 and under $5.
Workshop: ‘Simple Wills and Basic Estate Planning'
EAST ARLINGTON -- The Federated Church of East Arlington is sponsoring a free workshop titled, "Simple Wills and Basic Estate Planning" Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in Bailey Hall on Ice Pond Road. The presenter will be local attorney Peter Lawrence from Barr, Sternberg, Moss, Lawrence & Silver. The session will focus on important issues to consider in drafting a will and making arrangements for what happens with resources upon death. Quarterly water and sewer bills are due
BENNINGTON -- All quarterly water and sewer bills are due Friday, Oct. 5. Payments may be made by personal check, bank check, money order or cash at the Town Offices at 205 South St. The office is open Monday through Friday and accepts payments between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For a stamped receipt, bring both portions of the bill.
If you wish to pay by credit card, you must call the phone number at the top of your bill (Official Payments). Any questions or concerns, call 442-1037.
Bennington Hazardous Waste Day
BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Hazardous Waste Day will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bennington Transfer Station, on Houghton Lane. Free to the residents of Bennington and Woodford. For more information, call 802-442- 1037.
Legislative candidate forum
BENNINGTON -- The six candidates for State Representative from Bennington Districts 2-1 and 2-2 have been invited to take part in a Candidate Forum at the Bennington Fire House, 130 River St., third floor, at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4. The forum, sponsored by the American Association of University Women, will be cablecast by CAT-TV.
