SALEM, N.Y. -- State police say they have charged a man with burglary after he allegedly took an undisclosed amount of money from a farm stand, and they expect to charge him in connection with other such thefts.
Police said Joseph Skellie, 24, of Salem, has pleaded not guilty to a single charge of third degree burglary in Greenwich Village Court and is being held at the Washington County Jail for lack of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
Police say Skellie admitted to them that he stole from the farm stand, as well as businesses and residences in the towns of White Creek, Jackson, Salem and Greenwich during the past few weeks.
The Washington County Sheriff's Department assisted with the investigation and information is still being sought. Anyone with information are asked to call New York State Police at 518-692-3015.
