BURLINGTON (AP) -- More than 1,000 professionals from the captive insurance industry are gathering in the Burlington area this coming week for a major industry conference.
The 27th annual conference hosted by the Vermont Captive Insurance Association is being held Tuesday through Thursday at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center and the University of Vermont. It features 22 seminars and roundtables and 60 industry experts as panelists.
Vermont is the national leader in the captive insurance industry in which companies across a broad range of industries set up subsidiaries to provide them with their own insurance.
Vermont is home to some 600 captive insurance companies, including those of 42 of the Fortune 100 companies.
