Portion of White Creek Road will be closed

SHAFTSBURY -- White Creek Road will be closed to all vehicle traffic between Rollin Road and Elm Street on Wednesday, July 18, from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. for drainage repairs. Inquiries: Call Road Foreman Terry Stacy at 442-9838.

Last chance for raffle tickets

BENNINGTON -- Raffle tickets for the second annual "Dinner at the Top" of the Bennington Battle Monument are only available until Saturday, July 21. The drawing will be held at 4 p.m. on that day. You can still get tickets at the Monument, Beverage Den, One Hour Martinizing on Benmont Ave., Vermont Confectionery on Route 9, and the Bennington Chamber Office. Only 100 tickets will be sold. Four tickets are drawn; each ticket entitles the winner and three guests to a delectable catered dinner at the top of the Monument taking place on Friday evening, Aug. 3.

Clinic volunteers sought for ‘Calling all Women’

BENNINGTON -- The Bennington Free Clinic is now recruiting volunteers to assist with mammogram outreach screening and education. Through funds received by Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the "Calling all Women" outreach project will provide mammograms at no cost to uninsured and underinsured women ages 40 to 75 living in Bennington County.

Participating volunteers will make direct contact with women through outreach at local supermarkets, food shelves, hair salons, and other locations.Call the clinic at 802-447-3700 to obtain an application and for additional information.

UCS Health, Wellness and Safety Fair

BENNINGTON -- The annual UCS Health, Wellness and Safety Fair will be held on Thursday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the UCS main office at 100 Ledge Hill Drive.

Some 29 different vendors and community service/business representatives will be on hand with interactive displays, demonstrations for improving personal health, wellness and safety. The fair is open to all UCS staff, clients, and families and annually draws hundreds of visitors.

The aim is to promote living healthy, making healthy choices, and maintaining good health to avoid costly and damaging diseases. UCS has assembled one of the largest local health, wellness, and safety fairs for better community health.

Exhibitor demonstrations will include Anytime Fitness: 10:30 a.m., body step; 11:15 a.m., zumba; 12:30 p.m., body pump; 1:15 p.m., body flow. Green Mountain Tai Chi: Demonstrations at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 1:30 p.m. Karma Cat Yoga Studio: Demonstrations at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. (open to attendee participation).
