BENNINGTON — A local legislator reported that her home was entered by an unknown person Monday.

Bennington Police confirmed that House Rep. Kiah Morris, D-Bennington 2-2, told them that someone entered her home in the early morning hours and left when confronted by her husband. Police said no weapon was displayed by the person, who was described as being "tall and skinny."

Police said they canvassed the area around Morris' home and found no one matching that description.

A lawn sign belonging to Morris supporting Sue Minter for Vermont governor was also found damaged.

The investigation is ongoing. Police did not give further details.

Morris declined to give an official statement to the press.
