ARLINGTON >> Voters on Tuesday reelected Reginald Jennings to the Selectboard.
In the town's only contested race, Jennings garnered 330 votes. He bested Ronald D. King, who received 288 votes.
Every ballot article passed by a wide margin except for Article 40 which asked the town to support the Partnership for $3,700. At the town meeting Monday night, a majority of the attendees expressed their disinterest toward the organization.
The Partnership is a private-public entity for destination marketing and economic development in an effort to restructure a chamber business model. It's ultimate goal is to bring more tourism and industry to Bennington County, however residents couldn't see that amount of money aiding an unfamiliar new initiative. With a close call, voters cast 279 votes in favor and 373 against.
Poll results slowly rolled in from across Bennington County Tuesday night after residents voted in local elections and the presidential primaries.
For the presidential primary, Arlington residents overwhelmingly supported Senator Bernie Sanders by casting 398 votes, compared to 89 votes cast for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
For the presidential republican party, Jeb Bush received three votes, Ben Carson with 11, Chris Christie with four, Ted Cruz with 41, Carly Fiorina with one, John R. Kasich and Marco Rubio with 51 and Donald J. Trump with 87 votes.
