SEARSBURG — A Readsboro woman suffered non-life threatening injuries after a single-car crash Friday morning on Route 8, according to Vermont State Police.
Just after 7:30 a.m., Stephanie M. Laquier, 22, was travelling northbound near 100 Route 8 when her car collided with a telephone pole and landed down an embankment, according to a press release by Trooper Benjamin Barton of the Shaftsbury Barracks.
Police said Laquier, who was wearing a seat belt, became distracted for a brief period of time, which caused her car to travel off of the east side of the road and come to an uncontrolled rest about 20 feet down an embankment.
Her car, a 2003 Saturn station wagon, suffered extensive passenger side damage, police said.
She reported pain to her neck and head and was treated at the scene before Deerfield Valley Rescue took her to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for evaluation.
Wilmington Fire and Rescue also responded to the scene. Vermont Route 8 had to be shut down for a brief period of time so the vehicle could be removed.
