Choral Society Orientation
The Bennington County Choral Society will begin rehearsals for its December concert, The Majesty of Music under the direction of new director Cailin Marcel Manson on September 8. Choral pieces by Handel, Vaughn Williams, and Rutter will be featured. Singers from ages 15 and up are invited to come to an orientation on August 23 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse at 108 School St. in Bennington to get acquainted with the new director and the music for this concert. Night walk and campfire
NORTH DORSET -- Stay up late and experience Emerald Lake State Park beneath the stars. Every Friday though Labor Day Weekend the park naturalist will present a Night Walk at 9 p.m. and a Campfire program on Saturday at 9 p.m.
During the Friday Night Walk visitors will find out how nocturnal animals live and thrive. We will walk silently like a fox, listen like a deer, and understand how owls see. During the Saturday Campfire, silly songs will be sung, traditional animal stories shared, and lots of nutty jokes cracked. Visitors will also be challenged with Vermont trivia.
The Night Walk starts by the Nature Center and you can join the Campfire Program by the day use parking lot. Look for the Campfire sandwich board sign. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Recommended age is 7 and above.
Bubble show at Grafton Library
GRAFTON, N.Y. -- On Friday, Aug. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Grafton Community Library will celebrate the Grand Finale of its 2014 Summer Reading Program with an exciting evening of entertainment featuring Jeff Boyer's "Bubble Trouble." A bubble volcano. A Bubble roller coaster. A kid in a bubble? Jeff Boyer takes bubbles to the max in this one-man bubble extravaganza. It's the craziest, most creative bubble show around. Jeff juggles bubbles, sculpts and builds with bubbles, makes fog-filled bubbles and more. Mixing comedy, music and interactive bubble-magic, he will engage and delight audiences of all ages.

Jeanine Marie Quartet in concert
READSBORO -- On Friday, Aug. 22 at 8 p.m., Readsboro Arts is pleased to present a "Night of Jazz" with the Jeanine Marie Quartet. The performance will be at the E.J. Bullock Building at 7012 Main St.
The Jeanine Marie Quartet features jazz vocalist Jeanine Ouderkirk, Darryl Kniffen on drums, Shaun McCarthy on guitar and Brad Closson, bass. BENNINGTON -- Join the Catamount Rotary Club, along with many local business sponsors, at Willow Park, rain or shine, to have fun while trying for a million dollar prize. Qualifying starts on Friday, Aug. 29, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Semi-qualifying follows with the finals immediately after.
Members of the club are volunteering their time to help raise funds to help build youth education in our community. All participants must be 18 years of age to compete.

Catamount Rotary was founded in February 1987 with the goal to raise funds to help build youth education. Rotary Club of Bennington Catamount and Catamount Rotary Charities, Inc., is run by volunteer efforts by members of our community.
