Greenwich Library book sale
GREENWICH, N.Y. -- On Thursday, Aug. 7, the Friends of the Greenwich Library's First Thursday Boomerang Book store in the Basement will be open for business from 4 until 7:30 p.m. Come and pour over the thousands of new and like-new books on the shelves. New material arrives every day by the boatload, and materials that haven't sold are routinely rotated out and recycled, making every monthly sale a different experience.
The August Special is a "Make-Your-Own Series" Sale. Fill a bag with books with red covers; fill a box with Nancy Drew. Stack a tower of titles that start with "R." If you can make a compelling case for why your collection of at least 15 books is a Legitimate Series, you can have it for 33 percent off the usual price. All proceeds from First Thursday Boomerang Sales go toward library programs and materials.
Sounds of the Summer Night at Sheep Hill
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The Williamstown Rural Lands Foundation invites you to Sheep Hill on Thursday, August 7 at 8:30 p.m. to learn more about the fascinating world of grasshoppers, crickets, katydids and other night-singing insects.
Bring a flashlight and shoes suitable for damp and possibly mud conditions.
The program is free and suitable for all ages. Rain date is August 14.
Owls and raptors at Mark Skinner Library
MANCHESTER -- Come to the library on Thursday, August 7, at 10:30 a.m. and meet live owls and raptors from the Southern Vermont Natural History Museum. This program is free and open to the public.
