SUNDERLAND -- State Police said a tractor trailer fitted with a car carrier went off the road Thursday to avoid hitting an oncoming pickup truck.
According to Vermont State Police Sgt. Brian Turner, at 5:15 p.m. the tractor trailer, a 2009 Kenworth being driven by Charles Sietz, of Benson, North Carolina, was going west on Dunham Road when he moved as far as he could to the right side of the road to avoid hitting a pickup truck. The road gave out under Sietz, causing him to go off it, hit a tree and end up leaning over an embankment. The pickup kept going, and Sietz was unhurt.
Sietz works for Lewis Transport LLC, of Sibley, Missouri. Roberts Towing, of Wilton, N.Y., used to large tow trucks to return Sietz’s vehicle to the road, which was closed for three hours. Sietz was not ticketed.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Turner at 802-442-5421.
