Reported custodial

interference

POWNAL - On Feb. 3, state police were dispatched to a residence in Pownal to investigate a reported case of custodial interference. The complainant informed police that Kaela Holland, 24, of Bennington, had left the state of Vermont with her four-year old daughter, en route to the state of Michigan. The complainant discovered this after a friend called to tell him that Holland had asked to store some of her things at that friend's house, as she was leaving for Michigan. Police contacted AMTRAK, who confirmed that Holland was scheduled to depart the state of New York, with Michigan as her final destination. Holland was arrested at 12:10 p.m. central time on Feb. 4 in Chicago, and charged with custodial interference, a felony. The daughter is being returned to Vermont to be with her father. Holland will be lodged in Chicago until she agrees to voluntarily return to Vermont to face charges or an extradition hearing is held.
