HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. - Firefighters fought cold temps and a blaze early Friday morning that took several hours to extinguish.
The home, at 28 Center Street, is believed to be a total loss. Hoosick Falls Fire Chief Robert Bornt said Friday morning the fire it was a possibility that the building would be torn down by the end of the day.
It is believed that the fire began in the rear of the house, which Bornt said was engulfed by the time responders arrived. It began just before 3 a.m. and was extinguished around 6 a.m. Among the problems firefighters faced was the fact that due to the temperatures, the water being used was turning immediately to ice.
Bornt said at everyone got out alive.
