SHAFTSBURY -- State Police responded to a call on Route 7A on Tuesday at about 3:30 p.m., where a Hoosick Falls, N.Y., woman said she had been forced off the road by another vehicle.

The one-vehicle crash resulted in damage to the front bumper and possibly the undercarriage of the Ford Focus, according to police.

The operator of the vehicle, Joan Ulrich, 53, said she was forced off the road by another vehicle driving north on Route 7A, while she was driving south. She said the other vehicle occupied about three-fourths of her lane at this time. Ulrich was forced to swerve and drive up on the south bound shoulder of the roadway in order to avoid a collision. She believed the operator was impaired or distracted, police said.

The vehicle is described as a large, green Dodge truck, possibly with New York plates. Anyone with information, or witnesses, are encouraged to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-442-5421. Information can also be submitted anonymously online at or text "CRIMES" (274637) to Keyword: VTIPS.
