BENNINGTON -- A Pownal is being charged with charged with stealing pain medication and more than $2,000 in cash from a person he was house-sitting for.
Troy J. Quinn, 23, pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont Superior Court to a felony count of grand larceny, and misdemeanor possession of a narcotic. He was released on conditions he not contact the alleged victims.
According to an affidavit by Vermont State Trooper Thomas Stange, on Nov. 1 he spoke to a Pownal resident who said he had been away for a few days and arranged for Quinn to watch his house. When he came back he was missing a bottle of prescribed Hydrocodone pills and $2,040 in cash. He said he confronted Quinn, who admitted to taking the pills but only $40 in cash.
Quinn admitted to police that he took the pills, but knew nothing of the money. He said he had some friends over who might have taken it, but would not give police names. He said he is addicted to Hydrocodone and had plans to go to rehabilitation for it on Nov. 4.
