POWNAL -- A one-vehicle crash in Pownal led to the closure or Route 7 for a time on Thursday afternoon.
According to police, at about 2 p.m., they responded to a report of a one-vehicle crash.
When police arrived on scene they observed a Comcast work van with extensive damage blocking both the northbound and southbound lanes. The vehicle was totaled, police said.
Police identified the operator as Jedadiah Lampron, 33, of Bennington. Lampron was belted and sustained no injuries during the crash.
According to police, Lampron was driving south on Route 7 when a deer ran out in front of him. He avoided hitting the deer, but lost control of his vehicle and struck a rock wall on the south bound edge of the roadway. Lampron was ticketed for driving with his license suspended, but he did not receive any tickets for the crash, police said.
The State Police would like to remind drivers to remain extremely vigilant for wildlife crossing the roadways this fall.
