HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- The Hoosick Falls Central School District Board of Education accepted a resignation from board member Donald Skott at its regular meeting Thursday night.
Skott left the board less than a year into his current three-year term, stating at the meeting that he knew his resignation would probably come as a surprise to some but that he felt it was the right thing to do.
"I’m not leaving with any bad feelings or anything like that," said Skott, addressing his fellow BOE members. "I just feel like it’s my time to go."
Superintendent Kenneth Facin said the board will "discuss all options," at their next regularly scheduled meeting; set to be held Thursday, Oct. 17.
Members will decide if that means leaving the seat vacant until elections are held again in May, or appointing a new member.
Skott was serving his third consecutive term on the Hoosick Falls BOE. He was re-elected to the position he has held since 2007 only four months ago.
The six remaining members of the board include President Greg Laurin, Vice President Richard Ferrannini, Rachel Boisvert, Laurie Gormley, John Helft and David Sutton.
