BENNINGTON -- Robert (Rob) Scanlon has been with the Banner's advertising department since early February.
A media sales consultant for the Banner, Scanlon is a Richmond, Vt., native and a graduate of Castleton State College, where he majored in business and marketing. It was there he met his future wife, Sara. They were married July 20 and reside in Shaftsbury.
One thing that may stand out to you when you meet Scanlon, other than his winning smile and professional demeanor, is his ... socks. Scanlon is a guy who likes to show a little personality through hosiery. For instance, on his wedding day, Scanlon sported pink socks decorated with blue and green whales.
In his work selling advertising for the Banner, Scanlon covers a territory that includes "everything other than Bennington." This includes businesses in North Bennington, Shaftsbury, and Pownal, Vt., and Hoosick Falls and Cambridge, N.Y. He said he enjoys the "freedom of the job" and the opportunity to get to know a lot of people.
Outside of work, Scanlon said he follows basketball, is "big into photography" and enjoys visiting his family in northern Vermont and his wife's parents in New Jersey.
On Thursday nights you'll likely find Scanlon at Ramunto's Pizza in Bennington competing at Trivia Night on a team with his wife and their friends. He said his team is pretty good and even won the whole competition last season. It's game on this Thursday if you'd like to stump Scanlon.
Or, if you'd simply like to chat him up about purchasing an ad in the Banner, call Scanlon at 802-447-7567, ext. 125, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
