READSBORO -- Police charged a Readsboro man with impersonating a police officer, alleging that he called a neighbor he has been fueding with and pretended to be a Vermont State Trooper.
According to police, Joseph Mangiacotti of Tunnel Street reported last Thursday that he received a phone call from who he believed was a neighbor pretending to be a trooper. The suspect left a message on his answering machine, police said.
Police said Mangiacotti believed Justin Gamache, 30, was responsible because they have been involved in an ongoing feud. The state police listened to the message and determined it was not a trooper. After an investigation, police concluded Gamache was responsible. Gamache was cited and is to appear in Bennington County District Court on Oct. 7, police said.
Trooper Lauren Ronan investigated the incident.
