BENNINGTON -- A Pleasant Street man pleaded not guilty to taking another man’s coins in January.
Walter M. Taylor II, 40, pleaded not guilty Monday in Vermont Superior Court to a felony count of grand larceny. He was released on conditions.
On Aug. 12, William E. Beagle, 59, pleaded guilty to petit larceny and received a nine- to 12-month suspended sentence. Beagle was charged in February with being involved in the theft. Part of his probation conditions are that he cooperate with the prosecution of Taylor.
Police said a woman who was with Beagle and Taylor said she saw them enter an apartment building and come out with coins which they said they were going to sell so they could purchase drugs in Rutland.
Taylor denied having an involvement with taking the coins.
