HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- JA Bradley and Sons, a fifth generation family electrical contracting business in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. is celebrating 100 years of serving the community.

Founded in 1913 by Philip Bradley, the business made its debut at 6 John St. in the village of Hoosick Falls.

Continuing to expand over the years, JA Bradley and Sons was formally acquired by Joe Bradley and his sister, Julia in 1942. It was then that the business moved to its second location on Hall Street in Hoosick Falls.

During the late 50s and early 60s two of Joe Bradley’s sons headed the business until the early 1970s when master electricians Don and Phil Bradley took over JA Bradley and Sons.

"It’s an honor to still be in business today and to have such loyal customers," said Phil Bradley. "It’s pretty special in this economy."

In the early 1980s, JA Bradley and Sons made one last move to its present-day location on Route 22 in Hoosick Falls.

Scott Stroffoleno, Don Bradley’s son-in-law, now runs the business’ daily operations with the help of his son, Colin, a recent graduate of Hudson Valley Community College’s Electrical Construction Maintenance program. Stroffoleno hopes Colin will continue to grow the business in the coming years.

"It’s rare these days for a small business like ours to still be open," Stroffoleno said. "I’d say we’re pretty unique."

According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, only 33 percent of small businesses survive after 10 years. To boot, only 25 percent survive after 15 years.

Presently, JA Bradley and Sons serves a wide customer demographic throughout eastern New York and Vermont, providing services for industrial, commercial, and farm clientele alike.
