POWNAL -- State police out of Shaftsbury reported three separate burglaries over the weekend and are asking for the public’s assistance.

In one incident, police reported a burglary in Pownal at West Meadow Court, which occurred in the hour after midnight Sunday. A purse was initially reported missing from the residence, but was located the following day missing what police called a considerable amount of cash.

In another incident in Dorset, police said they were investigating a burglary on Blackberry Lane, in which an elderly couple reported cash and jewelry missing as they were preparing for vacation. In that case, police said the items were believe to have been taken between April 4-7. The items stolen included a considerable amount of cash and a bag containing a tanzanite ring, another ring, and a tiger’s eye beaded necklace.

In Rupert on Derby Hill Road, police said another nighttime burglary took place sometime between April 17 and 18. In that case, several Makita brand power tools were taken in addition to a Porter Cable drill.
