BENNINGTON -- Authorities netted multiple driving under the influence arrests over the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. In separate written releases, Vermont State Police reported at least four motorists in the area charged with driving under the influence as of early Sunday evening. Additional arrests were made after stops for minor traffic violations for outstanding arrest warrants and controlled substances.

At about 1:07 a.m. Sunday, police reported 25-year-old Nina Durham, of Hudson Falls, N.Y., was stopped for a minor traffic violation on Main Street in Bennington. Authorities determined Durham was operating the vehicle under the influence and she was transported to the Shaftsbury state police barracks for processing on a second offense DUI, and released with a later court date.

Allen Shores, 21, of Manchester, was arrested for a second offense DUI and for driving with a suspended license after he crashed his car early Sunday in Rupert. State police were dispatched to the single vehicle crash on Vermont Route 30 at about 3 a.m. Shores was transported to the Manchester police department for processing and released with a court date.

The night before, on Saturday at approximately 10:01 p.m., Patricia Stratton, 50, of Shaftsbury, showed signs of alcohol impairment after she was stopped for a minor motor vehicle violation on Church Street in Shaftsbury. Stratton was processed at the state police barracks and released.

Smith was lodged at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility in lieu of bail.

At 10:33 p.m. Saturday, another motor vehicle stop on Main Street in Bennington netted drug charges. State police said a passenger in the vehicle, Michael Rounds, 30, of Bennington, was arrested for possession of marijuana and cocaine.
