BENNINGTON -- A man convicted of sexual assault in 2007 is facing charges alleging that he failed to notify the Vermont Sex Offender Registry of a change to his address for more than five days.
Richard P. Pinsonneault, 31, of Beech Street, pleaded not guilty to a felony and misdemeanor charge of failure to comply with the sex offender registry. He was released on conditions that he come into compliance.
According to an affidavit by Bennington Police Detective Anthony Silvestro, on Jan. 24 he received word from Bonnie Goode, sex offender registry coordinator, that Pinsonneault was no longer living at the 266 Union Street address he had provided in December 2012. Silvestro said he went to that address and spoke to Pinsonneault’s grandfather, who said his grandson had moved out two weeks ago and was living with his girlfriend and her children, ages 10 and 12.
Pinsonneault told Silvestro the same thing and said he had forgotten to notify the registry of the move as he had been busy. Silvestro wrote that Pinsonneault must also notify the registry if he would be living with children.
