BENNINGTON -- Police have cited a local man for allegedly supplying the alcohol served at a party in September where a teenager was drinking just before fataly crashing his vehicle.

Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean said Trevor Murray, 20, of Bennington has been cited to appear in Bennington Superior Court Criminal Division on March 4 to answer the charges of enabling the consumption of alcohol with a death resulting and false information to a police officer.

In November, Bennington Police said their investigation into the crash that killed Randy J. Blair Jr., 19, revealed that Blair was intoxicated on Sept. 2 at 2:20 a.m. while he was driving on Mount Anthony Road after leaving party where he and other minors were consuming alcohol. An autopsy showed Blair’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the crash was 0.110 percent.

Police did not release further details on the crash or the investigation surrounding it. In November police said Blair had been at a birthday party on Mount Anthony Road where he and others under the legal drinking age were consuming alcohol. Police said they determined that Blair left the party after being in a physical altercation with a person there, but said that did not contribute to the crash. Police said Blair’s vehicle drifted across the center line and he overcorrected, colliding with an embankment causing the vehicle to spin around. Blair was not wearing a seatbelt and police said he was killed when he was thrown from the driver’s side door, which had come open.

Murray is being represented by Bennington attorney David F. Silver who said in an interview last week he is hopeful the community will "keep an open mind and wait until the case is over until they make any decision about what happened."
