BENNINGTON -- Police said a Bennington woman was treated and released from the hospital after having suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle rollover crash that happened on Fairview Street at 11:05 a.m. Tuesday.
According to Bennington Police Lt. Lloyd Dean, Karen Halvorsen, 55, was driving west on Fairview Street near the Silk Road intersection in a 1998 Nissan Altima. Dean wrote that while negotiating a sharp curve, Halvorsen lost control of the vehicle, fishtailed, and made contact with an earthen embankment, which caused the vehicle to flip onto its roof and come to a stop in the eastbound lane. Dean wrote that when police arrived Halvorsen was out of the vehicle and being treated by the Bennington Rescue Squad. She was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and later released.
The Bennington Rural Fire Department assisted on the scene. Dean said the crash is still under investigation.
