STRATTON -- Authorities reported a New York City man who followed his GPS past the end of Stratton Arlington Road and into a snow bank Saturday night. Two good samaritans on snowmobiles provided the man and his wife a ride off the trail, police said.
State police received the report at approximately 9:50 p.m., when Dion Russell, 40, contacted them after his Toyota RAV4 slid into a snow bank and became stuck. Police said Russell could not provide an exact location, but after authorities arrived they determined Russell had gone beyond a sign posted at the end of the road warning motorists to proceed at their own risk where the road is not maintained by the town of Stratton through the winter months.
Police said two snowmobilers subsequently came across Russell and his wife and transported the couple off the trail. No injuries were reported and Russell was provided information for a tow service.
