WILMINGTON -- A local man was killed in a three-vehicle accident on Route 100 Tuesday morning, according to police.

Police said that just before 11 a.m., a white Honda Civic driven by Rocco Corsaro of Wilmington was traveling north when it crossed the center line and struck a delivery truck. This caused Donald Derby, the driver of the WW Building Supply truck, to lose control and also cross the center line, police said, striking a third vehicle, a 2002 Volvo V70 driven by Jeanine Jeffers of Townshend.

Corsaro was killed in the crash, police said.

Due to the accident, police were forced to close a portion of Route 100 in Wilmington -- from Coldbrook Road to Higley Hill Road -- for several hours.

Emergency crews were at scene around noon, tending to Jeffers who was trapped in her vehicle. Two small children were also in the car driven by Jeffers, but did not appear to be injured. It was not clear what relation, if any, she had with the children.

After being extracted, Jeffers was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, police said.
