WHITINGHAM -- Two Bennington residents were hospitalized following a single car crash Saturday afternoon in Whitingham. In a written release, police said both occupants were transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Sixty-one-year-old Linda Beauchain-Corso was identified as the driver of the 2010 Subaru Forester, which police said had been traveling north on Route 112 near the intersection with Route 8A. The vehicle left the roadway and drove into a brook, according to police, totaling the vehicle. Both its driver and passenger, Margaret Ganguly-Kiefner, 16, were transported to the hospital.

Police did not indicate what caused the vehicle to leave the roadway, or whether the investigation remained ongoing or if any traffic citations were likely. State Police responded to the scene along with Windham County Sheriff’s deputies and Whitingham Fire and Rescue.
