HOOSICK, N.Y. -- Police released the names of those injured and a preliminary report following a weekend accident in Hoosick involving multiple motorcycles.

According to state police in a written release, the three bikes were traveling westward together Saturday along Route 7 when one in the group attempted to pass the lead motorcycle and collided, causing both drivers to lose control of their bikes. Both bikes struck the guide rails on the south side of the route. The lead motorcycle and its occupants came to rest on the roadway and the passing motorcycle ended up at the bottom of an embankment, police said.

The third motorcycle involved struck the lead motorcycle, which was lying in the roadway, and overturned.

The incident closed a stretch of Route 7 from shortly after the accident at 4 p.m. until after midnight Sunday.

The lead motorcycle, a 2006 Honda, was operated by Matthew S. Snyder, 39, of Hoosick. He suffered from severe abrasions over his body and was transported to Samaritan Hospital in Troy, where hospital representatives said he remained in stable condition Monday. His passenger, Sarah Angrisano, 25, of Mechanicville was also transported to Samaritan Hospital for severe abrasions from the pavement. Hospital representatives had no condition for Angrisano on Monday.

The passing motorcycle, a 2005 Yamaha, was operated by Paul H. Bulson, 45, of Cropseyville. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center with severe trauma to his right leg. His passenger, Elaine Young, 51, of Troy, was airlifted to Albany Medical Center for severe trauma to her right arm and right foot.

Both Bulson and Young remained listed in serious condition Monday afternoon.

The third motorcycle, a 2003 Suzuki, was operated by Sean P. Simm, 51, of Troy. He was transported to Saratoga Hospital for severe abrasions from the pavement, and his condition was unavailable Monday.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing and no tickets had been issued as of Monday according to authorities.
