HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Police reported an arrest following a month-long investigation into a fraudulent credit card purchase at the Cumberland Farms in Hoosick Falls.
Police Chief Robert Ashe said the investigation revealed two individuals from North Adams, Mass., who were allegedly involved with the fraud, which employed a fake credit card that bypassed the store’s security system. Christina Hinote, 20, and Jonathan Hinote, 21, were arrested Sunday by state police and charged in connection with the case. Both were remanded to Rensselaer County Jail in lieu of bail.
Police said their investigation determined the Hinotes had also committed the same fraud at the Cumberland Farms in Schodack, as well as other locations in the area. Christina Hinote was arraigned in village court on fourth-degree grand larceny, second-degree scheming to defraud, and petit larceny. Jonathan Hinote was arrested by state police and remanded to county jail, with undisclosed charges against him filed by Hoosick Falls police. Further charges are pending.
