READSBORO - Police said a motorcycle crash just after midnight on Tuesday sent a Whitingham man to the hospital.

The Vermont State Police responded to the crash on Route 8 near the Readsboro/Stamford town line, according to Trooper Justin Walker. He said John Galaske, 34, was traveling south on Route 8 when a deer crossed in front of Galaske. Walker said Galaske lost control of the 2004 Harley-Davidson when he swerved to avoid the deer.

Walker said the roadway was slick from recent rain.

Galaske was taken to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center to be treated for leg, rib and shoulder injuries.
