Police Lt. Lloyd Dean in a written release reported that 22-year-old Richard Davis was being investigated for driving under the influence, driving with a suspended license, and negligent operation following Saturday's incident. Charges were pending the results of an evidentiary blood test.
Dean said that police initially responded to a report of a fight in progress, at 126 Fillmore Street. While officers were responding to that call, a second report of a three car motor vehicle crash with injury was reported at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Cyr Court a short distance away. Upon investigation, police found the crash and fight compliant were connected.
According to police, Davis was found semi-conscious in his vehicle in the dooryard at 52 Cyr Court, after having struck three vehicles and a tree. Davis had to be extricated by Bennington Rural Fire Department from the vehicle, and he was transported to Southwestern Vermont Medical Center by Bennington Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.
State police and the Bennington County Sheriff's Department also assisted with the investigation.
